Bradfield Brewery Back as Title Sponsors for Sheffield Steeldogs

Bradfield Brewery are extremely pleased to announce that will be returning as our Sheffield Steeldogs title sponsors for the 2018/19 season.

Bradfield Brewery have supported hockey in Sheffield for many years and first became title sponsor for Sheffield Steeldogs in 2012, a partnership which continued for five years. Having worked with the Steeldogs for so many years, everyone at the club is excited to have us back on board as title sponsor and they look forward to another season as the Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs.

John Gill at Bradfield is happy that the brewery logo will be back on the front of the Steeldogs jerseys; “I’m pleased to be back on board with the Steeldogs this season. We have been following hockey for a long time now and the Steeldogs are back to the basics of looking after the kids in Sheffield and we would like to think we are putting something back into the hockey community.

Bradfield Brewery“I’m really looking forward to having a good season. Ben has put together a cracking team and the club is really progressing. Ben has proven that he is the man for the job – just look what he did last year in his first year of coaching. At the beginning of last season nobody quite knew what to expect with being in a new league, but as the season progressed you could see that the team were going to be successful and that is down to Ben and his coaching. He managed to get the best out of people on the ice. It’s not always the best team on paper who win, it’s the ones who work as a team and work together and it was great to see the Steeldogs claim the title in the final game of the league season”.

A blushing Ben Morgan shared the thoughts of everyone at the club; “Having Bradfield back on board is like a home from home signing. I told a few of the guys and they were thrilled that John and Sue were coming back because we know everyone here, they are very much part of our Steeldogs family. It’s a testimony to how the club is moving forward and attracting a high calibre of title sponsor like Bradfield – it’s great to be the Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs again”.

Tractor Enthusiasts Rallying for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice

Local Farmers and Tractor fans took to the rural roads of Sheffield in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice on Sunday 8th July.

The Tractor Rally covered a route of over 25 miles,  starting at Storrs Green Farm, Storrs, Sheffield, S6, before making its way to Our Cow Molly for an ice cream stop. The Rally then continued onto Bentiholmes Farm, Oughtibridge before going on to finish at the Nags Head Inn, Loxley for an afternoon lunch.

Its fourth year running, the Tractor Rally has become a well-attended annual event, with over 100 tractors taking part in this year’s rallywhich raised over £6,000 for nominated charity Bluebell Wood.

Each year a charity is chosen to benefit from the funds raised from the event and this year it was decided the rally would be held in memory of well-known local farmer David Helliwell who passed away suddenly in the summer of 2017. In memory of their husband and father, David’s wife and daughters nominated Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice as the charity they would like to support and invited the rally to pass through their farm in Oughtibridge.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice care for and support children with life limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families, within the Sheffield area. The charity offers services including short breaks, respite, end of life, community support, young adult groups and sibling support, free of charge to the children and their families.

Liam Kirk Makes history as he’s drafted by the Coyotes!

Bradfield Brewery have been proud Shirt Sponsors of Liam since he joined Sheffield Steelers, after recognising his potential whilst watching him play during his time with Sheffield Steeldogs.

The news of Liam’s drafting to the Coyotes came as no great surprise to us as sponsors, his talent in the game stood out to us from day one and we always enjoyed watching him demonstrate his great skills throughout every game!

We could not be any more proud of what Liam has achieved for his clubs, this city and his country – he has made history for Ice Hockey.

Kirk has been a key player for his country at almost every major international event since the age of 16. He played for Great Britain at the 2016 IIHF World Under-18 Championship Division 2, Group A at 16, played in the 2017 World Junior Championship Division 1 Group B tournament at 17, and this season led Great Britain to a gold medal at the 2018 World U18s Division 2, Group A, and a bronze medal at the World Junior Championship Division 2, Group A with a tournament-best 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) at age 18.

Kirk also won a gold medal as the second-youngest player on the Great Britain men’s national team at the 2018 IIHF World Championship Division 1, Group A tournament in April. A 3-2 shootout win against Hungary in the final game of the round-robin tournament secured Great Britain a promotion to the elite level of the World Championship for the first time since 1994.

Now Kirk begins the long road to possibly becoming the first player born and trained in the United Kingdom to play an NHL game.

Ale Trailers gearing up for Coast to Coast Trans Pennine Trail Challenge

The Team Ale Trailers, made up of 8 men with mixed cycling ability, are set to complete the Coast to Coast Trans Pennine Trail over 3 days – 216 miles of track, mud and hills stretching from Southport to Hornsea.

Taking on the challenge to fundraise for chosen charity BlueBell Wood Children’s Hospice, the team will depart from Southport on Wednesday 16th May, finishing their first day at Hadfield. Day 2 will be a 75mile stretch from Hadfield to Selby and then the final leg will be 55 miles cruising home to Hornsea!

Amongst the team is Downhill World Champion winner, Steve Peat – one of the most successful downhill riders ever – Steve will be encouraging adventurous cycling when it comes to descending the hills of the trail – he may not be so adventurous climbing back up them though!

Cask Ale Brewers Richard Gill and Sam Jubb from Sheffield based Bradfield Brewery are joining the line up and have been given the important task of bringing the evening refreshments!

May is a big month for cyclists – with Tour De Yorkshire the talk of the region, it spurred the boys on complete the trail, and to raise money for charity by getting in the saddle and taking on a challenge!

Speaking of the challenge ahead, Steve Peat said “It could be hard work dragging a group of beer monsters along this 216 mile endurance route, but its been great getting the lads together and training for the event! We are looking forward to the mud, sweat and beers we are likely to endure!”

Steve will be taking a break from training this weekend to take part in Peaty’s Steel City Downhill event which takes place this Saturday (5th May 2018). ‘The biggest little race in the world’ is back for the 8th time, bringing the atmosphere of a world cup race to Sheffield’s Grenoside Woods. Featuring 200 races, the event is a ‘must see’ for all mountain biking enthusiasts, where the thrill of a downhill will see competitors racing for top speed! Riders will have chance to practice during the morning, with the first race starting at 12noon.

If you would like to support the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and the Ale Trailers on their coast to coast challenge, donations can be made via their just giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ale-trailers

Bradfield Brewery to offer warm welcome at new Deepcar Pub!

Bradfield Brewery have taken ownership of the King and Miller Public House situated in Deepcar, Sheffield.
Formerly owned by Admiral Taverns, an opportunity knocked at the door for us when we saw the establishment had been placed on the market for sale.
With contracts now exchanged, we are keen to get the doors open and give a warm welcome to customers old and new.

Shortly to become a Bradfield Brewery Tap, the King and Miller will feature at least 6 cask ales from our Farmers Ales range, as well as a great selection of fine wines, spirits and soft drinks.

With open fires, a pool table and a spacious, enclosed beer garden – the pub will endeavour to offer a warm and friendly atmosphere where everyone will be welcome.

Operating a public house venue is not something new for Bradfield Brewery who have enjoyed a decade of success at their Brewery Tap, The Nags Head at Loxley.

Bradfield Brewery is based on a busy working farm in the picturesque village of Bradfield in Sheffield. Since brewing their first cask ale in 2005, the brewery has enjoyed continued success with their Farmers Ale range, delivering their cask ales to outlets nationwide.

John Gill, Director at Bradfield Brewery, on the acquisition said “We are excited at the opportunity to serve another local community with a traditional style public house which will offer great products in a friendly atmosphere. A traditional pub is something we believe should remain a part of our society and we are pleased to be bringing this offering to the local community of Deepcar and Stocksbridge”.

The King and Miller will be re-opening soon with a date yet to be confirmed.

Following this exciting news, the Brewery are now looking to recruit a Manager or Management Couple to take care of the day to day running of this new venture. Ideal candidates will have previous management experience as well as a high level of customer service and leadership skills. Any enquiries including CV’s should be directed to Bradfield Brewery by email to lisa@bradfieldbrewery.com

Bradfield Ye Olde English Ale – By George It’s Good!

Brewed with St George in mind, this traditional brew, Bradfield Ye Olde English Ale commemorates all things traditional and is on the seasonal calendar ready for St George’s Day on April 23rd.

Bradfield Ye Olde English ales features on the brewing schedule for the 11th year running and with a redesign of the pump clip for 2018, this year’s brew is sure to go down without a fight.

Bradfield Brewery makes 4000th Brew!

It’s March 2018, 13 years (almost) since our very first brew and we have reached our 4000th brew milestone!

Our first ever brew was in our 10 barrel brewing plant which over the years has developed into a 40 barrel plant. Increase in demand means the brewing plant is always busy and it was of little surprise to us when we realised we were at the 4000 mark!

Head Brewer Paul Ward has been with us here at brewery since we began in April 2005 and together with Brewer Sam Jubb, worked hard to ensure the 4000th brew was as good as all of the ones before it!

Here’s looking forward to the next 1000 brews and hitting the 5k mark!

Double Win for Farmers Stout!

Farmers Stout wins double in the Rotherham CAMRA Champion Beer of Yorkshire competition at The Rotherham Real Ale & Music Festival.

A dark enriched ‘black and white’ stout balanced by ploughing through roasted malts and flaked oats with a subtle bitter hop character, the Farmers Stout scooped Gold in Stout Category and Bronze in the overall Champion Beer of Yorkshire competition.

We have been brewing Farmers Stout since we first started at Bradfield Brewery in 2005 and it continues to be a strong seller in our permanent range of ales to this day.

Originally brewed just for cask, we now sell it in Keg as a smooth flow stout which has increased its popularity further.

Farmers Stout is also available in 500ml bottles and 5litre Mini Kegs (Mini Kegs are subject to availability), from our Brewery Shop and other outlets.

The Rotherham Real Ale & Music Festival is taking place from 1st to 3rd March at Magna, Rotherham. Further details can be found at http://www.magnarealale.uk/
