R.I.P Charlie… a true gentle giant

It is with deepest sadness that we have to announce the passing of Charlie – one of our Percheron heavy horses.

Charlie, along with his lifelong work partner China, came to the brewery on semi-retirement in April 2009 having spent their lives travelling up and down the country competing in may county shows and winning countless number of competitions.

After settling in they did the odd delivery run to the Nags Head, led the Stannington Carnival parade in 2010 and in July 2013 they donned their harness for the last time to take a bride to Bradfield Church on her wedding day. Since then they have spent their time in the fields eating grass, munching on brewers grains and rolling in the mud.

So at such a sad time lets not forget that Charlie had quite an interesting life from being washed and pampered on show days then enjoying the applause of hundreds of people that admired him in the show ring to finally helping us to promote Bradfield Brewery. A true gentle giant. RIP Charlie.
As for China he is obviously distraught at losing his lifelong stable mate, but having Merlin, Lilly and Claire for company he is bearing up well.
